The US Government has recently sequestered several large US-registered freighters under the CRAF scheme, to enable it to ship emergency medical supplies and stop the freighters being used by other countries.
As a result, the already pressed cargo airlines are short key aircraft right when they’re needed. Subsequently the Dutch Philips conglomerate is to use two of the aircraft to ship medical supplies, mostly PPE, from Shanghai to Amsterdam.
The Dutch Government is working with China to establish a semi-permanent air bridge for medical supplies to Europe, and it will go into effect on 13th April.
The aircraft will remain in use until the Covid19 emergency passes, but will then be retired.
