One of the worlds largest leasing companies, Avolon, has cancelled 75 737MAX and 4 A330neo. The company plans to cancel another 25 single aisles but hasn’t determined which ones.
Like many leasing companies they order aircraft without knowing who the end customer is, relying on their business analysis and marketing to sell what they order to airlines. The company is planning to cut its order book from 284 aircraft to 165.
This is likely to be the first of many more similar actions by leasing companies and airlines.
