Qantas pilots approve Project Sunrise

If it goes ahead – and Qantas has already delayed the A350’s with Airbus, the main Pilots union voted 85% in favour of a pay deal that will see them fly the non-stop Sydney-London flights, originally forecast for 2022-23.

Qantas had threatened to bypass unions in February, saying that it would negotiate directly with individual pilots or create a “new employment entity” – in effect a separate company, if it could not come to an agreement with the Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA).

With that behind it, now its just a question of when the ailrine eventually gest to place orders and how soon it can make the project a reality.
