Singapore Airlines announces it would retire its last four 777-200’s by the end of this month rather than in late May.
Demand has dropped so substantially in the mid-range market the aircraft fly in the airline sees no point in continuing to fly them.
Eventually they’ll be replaced by 787-10’s.
The news comes as KLM confirm the end of 744 operations on March 29 and American withdrawing their 767/757 fleets. Virgin Atlantic already withdrew their A346’s three months early.
Delta are expected to announce an end to their MD88/93 operations and other retirements are highly likely. British Airways is rumoured to be considering cutting more of its 744’s.
