Lufthansa Group and Norwegian ask for emergency state aid

Lufthansa Group has asked for state aid in Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, for Austrian, Lufthansa, Brussels, Swiss and Edelweiss, as it approaches a massive cash shortage .

Norwegian has also asked the Government of Norway for aid. It says it’s almost at the point of collapse and it cannot go on with the situation as is.

Norway has cancelled aviation tax but it’s nowhere near enough and part of Norwegian Group is owned by the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund.

That Lufthansa should be in such a dire situation so fast shows how the US action of cutting routes from Europe has proven to be the last straw for the airlines.
