Emirates has admitted to laying up 20 A380’s and may put more in storage as the CoVid19 pandemic spreads.
The airline has also asked Airbus to delay deliveries of the last 8 aircraft, the final one is already in initial assembly and due for delivery this time next year. Airbus needs the space for the A321neo expansion so will probably build the aircraft and store them rather than slow production further.
The complexity of delaying the final build and the knock on effect is not one worth the cost and expense, so it’s exceptionally unlikely Airbus would slow production. The downside is they’d have to finance the completion but wait for final payment (usually around 25%) on delivery.
