David Neeleman on February 7, 2020, announced that his new airline had been officially named Breeze.
Prior to this official name, the project was known as Moxy, but that was in conflict with Marriott’s Moxy Hotels trademark.
Previously on July 17, 2018, the new entity signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for 60 A220-300s to be delivered from April 2021. It will start operations with Embraer 195s.
The new airline will be based in Salt Lake City and will serve smaller, underserved airports.
Neeleman was the original founder of JetBlue and a major force behind Azul.
