A350 engine shutdowns caused by spilt drinks

Two separate events in which one of an A350’s engines shut down mid flight have been tracked back to spilt drinks in the cockpit .

Delta and Asiana have both suffered from shut downs following drinks spilled into the centre console. Apparently the engines refused to stay on once restarted and it took about 45 minutes for the liquid to get into the console.

New practices relating to the use of drinks in the cockpit are being prepared and airlines warned over the dangers. Both incidents occurred during November 2019.
