Finnair, the entire Lufthansa Group (Swiss/Austrian/Lufthansa/Brussels), United, Air France, KLM, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and many others are quickly joining the list of airlines that have been advised by their governments to cancel flights to China until the coronavirus epidemic can be seen to have been contained.
Experts are saying it will be at least another ten days before the virus starts to level out and new cases should start to decline. Even so most airlines are cancelling flights to and from China until the end of February at the earliest.
The impact on airlines like Finnair can be quite sharp, as it’s whole business is based around connectivity with the Far East, China especially.
Freight operators are especially hard hit saying that factory production in many areas has stopped and shipments simply won’t be possible for the foreseeable future.
