Minneapolis based Sun Country Airlines has won a contract from Amazon Prime Air to operate ten 737-800F converted freighters, starting in the second half of 2020.
The contract is due to last six years.
Amazon seems to be diversifying its operators from just ATSG and Atlas – especially Atlas who have an appalling bad working relationship with their pilots and prefer conflict to negotiation.
It’s also an interesting branching out by Sun Country – normally one of the more reliable airlines if not the largest. A solid contract to operate freighters using contracted pilots and making a profit doing so is a good way to pad the airline’s bottom line.
