SAS Scandinavian Airlines officially admitted on Twitter, that they plan to scrap all of their A340-300’s and send them to Tarbes in France for part out and scrap.
With 7 aircraft currently in operation (there were 8) and their replacements, the newly liveried A350-900’s will effectively replace them on a one for basis, suggesting a retirement date for the last aircraft by 2021, when the last A39 is delivered.
SAS has begun the long process of rationalising its entire fleet over to Airbus, with the 737-600’s due to exit this year, and pretty much everything else single aisle being replaced by A320Neo’s.
