Ile La Réunion based Air Austral has ordered 3 A220-300’s from Airbus.
The carrier based on the French oversea territory in the Indian Ocean, considered a part of metropolitan mainland France in legal and political terms, is a major holiday destination for French travellers.
The air line said in a statement that the aircraft would be delivered in November 2020, December 2020 and in March 2021.
They’ll replace the carrier’s two Boeing 737-800’s and one ATR72-500. Cabin configuration hasn’t yet been decided, but most are delivered in a single class of five across in a 2-3 arrangement.
Air Austral uses some quite decorative tails so they may prove to be interesting liveries as each is unique.
