AirFrance took delivery of its first A350-900 yesterday.
Equipped with a three class cabin – 34 Safran Optima business seats, 24 Recaro premium economy and 266 Safran economy seats, the A359 is able to fly non-stop to every destination in the AirFrance route list.
Notably, Group CEO Ben Smith mentioned when discussing routes “…except Sydney.”
This underscores my previous points that if Qantas choose the A350 for project sunrise – and even if they don’t – the A359ULR version can be ordered inside the AF-KLM Group order and flights to Australia suddenly become viable. It’s a big market with vast potential and only BA fly there from Europe, with a stop in Singapore.
