Emirates delays Premium Economy as 777-X entry fades

Emirates said yesterday it’s no longer expecting it’s 777-9 deliveries in 2020 and has postponed the launch of Premium Economy to December on its A380’s.

The original plan was to roll it out on the new aircraft but the engine delays with General Electric – whose parent company is already in deep trouble over accusations of financial improprieties, has lead to extended delays in delivery.

Currently Boeing is unable to provide a first flight date never mind an entry into service time frame.

The giant Al Maktoum airport project has also been placed on hold in the UAE as local economic conditions have left the country tight on development funds.
