The bankrupt Icelandic carrier WOW has been purchased by a US investment company, USAerospace Associates. The company will use the same name and operate its first route from Keflavík to Washington Dulles on October 19th.
The company has allocated $85m to fund the return of the airline, which is not a great deal, suggesting it will be a slow, piecemeal development.
That in turn suggests the new WOW will take its time to develop routes and not rush head first into break neck expansion.
The airline will start with two aircraft and take its time to build a customer base to operate, ideally, twelve aircraft.
There will be a focus on cargo from Dulles as an additional growth stream.
