The first Airbus A220 has started assembly at the new Mobile Alabama plant, following the return of workers who’d been training at the Mirabel main assembly plant in Quebec.
All of the future US destined aircraft for Delta will now be assembled there. Future orders will be split on a capacity basis to meet global production requirements.
Boeing fought hard and dirty to stop the CSERIES as it was from being sold in the US saying it was unfair competition against the 737MAX 7. Boeing lost its case.
As part of its efforts to get round the import restrictions and taxation Airbus decided immediately to build an assembly plant next to the A320 plant in Mobile.
With significant orders now coming in for the A220 series it should allow for faster deliveries.
