Airbus and EASA yesterday introduced a formal warning that in certain rare circumstances an excessive pitch problem exists on the A321neo.
An issue has been found with the system operating the elevators and ailerons.
Because of the fly-by-wire systems in the A321neo the aircraft is able to continue flying and compensate – the MAX doesn’t have such extensive automation systems.
The situations in which the issue can develop are said to be rare and it has required only an update to manuals and an alert to operators at this point.
Airbus are looking at wether it’s a procedural issue of software that needs updating.
EASA sees no need to ground the aircraft at this point.
