Virgin Atlantic in, IAG out of Thomas Cook bids

As I have reported since the end of last year when Thomas Cook Airlines was first put up for sale, Virgin Atlantic is now reported by Reuters News Agency to be actively seeking part of the business. I remain convinced that it’s ideal scenario is to take on the A330 fleet in part or in whole. An active bid has been presented to Thomas Cook according to Reuters.

Reuters reported this at the same time as Willy Walsh, CEO of IAG ruled out making any bid for TCA.

Lufthansa has already made a non-binding bid for TCA’s Condor division, and has expressed an interest in the rest of the airline.

Indigo Partners are also said to be interested in the group.
