The effective collapse of JetAirways has seen an unprecedented rise in international airlines flight frequencies to India.
British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific have seen flight frequencies jump 10-27% as they take advantage of the JetAirways demise.
Not only are they adding frequencies, they’re flying bigger aircraft.
At the same time there are matching reports that ticket prices are also rising between 10 and 20%. Thats not just price gauging, there’s been a near 20% increase in demand in India for air travel in just a year – couple a demand rise with limited supply and you get price increases.
So while it’s sad for one airline and its employees, domestic airlines are gaining and employing more staff, international airlines are adding frequencies, and employing more ground staff at Indian airports.
There’s always a silver lining in every cloud for someone.
