Air Premia orders 787-9’s for 2020 start up


New South Korean hybrid airline Air Premia, has chosen the 787-9 for its primary aircraft when it starts operations in September 2020. It had been looking at the A330neo but concluded the 787 was a better option. It only intends to operate the one type of aircraft.

The airline will offer premium economy and economy services only, with no business class, aiming to serve San Jose (the alternative to SFO in Silicon Valley), and LAX.

It intends on expanding to Honolulu, Vancouver, Munich and Cairns in Australia in 2021.

The airlines founder, Kim Jong-cheol was previously President of Jeju Air and raised $180 million to get the airline off the ground.
