Singapore Airlines has taken delivery of the first of 7 A350-900ULR’s. The aircraft will commence operations on October 11th flying non-stop over the polar route to New York, an almost 19 hour flight.
The A359ULR aid equipped in a two class layout with 67 business class seats and 94 premium economy seats – there is no basic economy offering.
This is reminiscent of the old A340-500 service which operated until 2013 with just 100 business class.
The ULR version has extended range fuel tanks, engine tweaks, and several aerodynamic enhancements including 35% larger sharklets, which are now being deployed on all A350’s. the aircraft is registered as 9V-SGA.
