So the Taiwanese have finally become rattled by the success the Chinese had forcing 44 global airlines to refer to Taiwan as Chinese.
Achieved by inserting a comma and the word China after Taiwan, therefore making China the possessor, 44 airlines were threatened with sanctions in China if they didn’t give in. They all did. Even the US majors.
Many of the 44 don’t fly direct to Taiwan, but those that do now face retaliation. The removal of preferential gate access, lack of bridges, delayed traffic control and so on are all apparently on the cards. Add to that increased landing fees and airport charges, all of which are likely to be introduced.
So where does that leave the airlines? Most don’t fly there so won’t care, those who do haven’t a clue yet.
