BA’s owner IAG is said to have walked away from an order for ten additional A380’s because Airbus wouldn’t agree a low enough price.
The airline had been looking at retrofitting used aircraft but found it to be so expensive – and delays to new seating so extensive because of new order backlogs, that it was no longer viable. Buying new would be cheaper.
Airbus however hasn’t brought the price to a point IAG finds acceptable. This comes in on top of IAG adding recently, that Boeing looked increasingly likely to win a long haul order for new aircraft – presumably the 777-x.
Airbus May find this is IAG just thumping the table – it certainly won’t want to loose such big orders, but it also won’t want to loose money on what it sells.
