Rolls Royce problem to peak at 50 parked Dreamliners

Rolls Royce said in a statement yesterday that it’s engine problem will peak with a maximum of 50 grounded aircraft rather than the expected 35.

The number of affected aircraft flying the so called Package-C modification launched with the 787-9, that have faults is larger than expected.

Rolls Royce is tripling the resources available to resolve the issue and Boeing is allocating a high level manager to help.

Even so, for most of the rest of the year there will be at least 50 aircraft out of service.
