Delta Air Lines’ CEO Ed Bastian said yesterday, in the Q1 2018 earnings statement, that the first delivery of the new 110-seat Bombardier CS100 will be in the fourth quarter of 2018.
The airline is planning to inaugurate CS100 services at the start of 2019. Delta has 75 units on order.
The CS100 will begin to replace the McDonnell Douglas MD-88’s and MD-90-30’s.
In January Delta forced a contract change on Bombardier that all of its aircraft would be assembled in the US – effectively delaying delivery until 2020.
With the victory over Boeing, following the overturning of the tariffs they tried to have imposed, Delta has now decided to ignore that aspect of the contract, no doubt to Bombardier’s delight!
