Air Asia sells 182 A320’s to leasing companies

Air Asia is selling 182 of its A320’s to a consortium of leasing companies. It will lease back all but one of the aircraft.

The company will gain $1.2 billion from the deal and leasing companies including BBAM in San Francisco and GIC, Singapore Airlines sovereign wealth fund are major partners in the purchase and lease back arrangement.

Over $139 billion in aircraft leasing and lease-back deals were concluded in 2016-17 alone.
