The 8,000th A320 family aircraft to be produced (MSN8000), was a Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-powered A320neo registered as B-1068 and delivered on 1 February to Air China.
Built at the Airbus’s Chinese assembly line in Tianjin, the aircraft had flown 10 days earlier on 22 January.
The first A320 delivery – a CFM International CFM56-powered A320-100 – was to Air France in March 1988.
As of 31 January 2018 a total of 14,135 A320 family orders have been made.
A320 family aircraft are assembled on four production lines worldwide; Toulouse on France, and Hamburg, Germany, in Europe, Mobile in the USA and Tianjin in China.
Despite the types apparent ubiquity in Europe, its largest market, with 36% of deliveries is the far east and China.
