JAL goes Boom!

Japan Airlines has just made an extraordinary $10m investment in supersonic aircraft developer Boom.

The company has an option to purchase up to 20 of the aircraft if they are fully developed. The purpose of the investment is to ensure that JAL gets a say in the customer experience, seating and performance requirements of the finished product.

Personally I have grave doubts about the development of supersonic business class only flights for the top 1% when so much else needs to be developed and worked on if we’re to maintain sustainable flight in the next 100 years. This just isn’t it. I admire the technology, but this is yesterdays world, not tomorrows.
