The US DoT cancelled Eastern Airlines airlines air operator certificate yesterday.
The airline was re-founded in 2011 and started flying operations in 2015. It operated four aircraft to US and Latin America destinations, as well as Cuba.
Its operations were based in building 5A at Miami Airport and these were the original Eastern’s operations buildings.
The airline operated charters for many sports professional and college football teams in its short life.
The airline had ordered 10 737-Max 8 and as many Mitsubishi MRJ90’s.
It had one accident with then candidate Mike Pence, the aircraft skidded off the runway at La Guardia.
The company struggled financially, especially following resumed restrictions with Cuba, and in September 2017 was purchased by Swift Air which took over all of its assets.
