The FAA recently granted Vietnam Airlines rights to fly to the US, and they are looking at doing so as soon as practically possible. Now VietJetAir.com wats to join the party and is looking at LAX and San Francisco.
The only thing is, it doesn’t yet have a single long-range aircraft on order so is now looking to Airbus and Boeing to see who can provide the best deal and by the middle of 2019 at the latest.
The airline plans to make 60% of its flights international by 2020, so has its work cut out making that happen, and being low-cost only certain aircraft types and configurations can possibly make it viable.
VietJet is well known for its lurid red and yellow liveries and marketing materials as well as for resorting to somewhat old fashioned and misogynistic marketing gimmicks, like parading bikini clad flight attendants around in airport foyers.
