Air New Zealand gets its first revised 789

Air New Zealand, launch customer for the 789 a couple of years ago, has taken delivery of the first of its revised interior 789’s.

The demand for premium economy on its services has been so great the airline has modified the interiors to seat 33 rather than 21. Business has also seen a marked rise in interest and they’ve been increased from 18 to 27.

These changes required an entirely new layout, especially in business class where one seat takes up the space of 3 Economy seats in rough equivalence, but can be 6 times more profitable.

The next Four 787-9’s will be equipped with the layout, the first is NZ-XSL shown above, which will operate on the Sydney service from 15 October.
