United, Delta and American have all been offering a “sub cattle class” low fare. United have been offering quite a bit less for the money and it’s been highly restrictive. So much so that travellers are avoiding it, but rather than trade up, it seems they’re trying out a less restricted offering on other genuine low cost airlines.
United have found their offering, far from enticing customers is actually driving them away. Rather than change the restrictions they’ve simply decided to reduce availability.
Yet both Delta and American – whose offerings are basic but not dragging the very bottom of the barrel, are perfectly fine with their own versions.
