AirBerlin closes long haul routes as bookings collapse

AirBerlin, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this month, will reduce long-haul routes from Berlin Tegel as bookings have collapsed. The oneworld member will shut down its twice daily Berlin-Abu Dhabi services by September 17th, and Berlin-Chicago O’Hare services will cease from the 30th.

Berlin-Los Angeles, Düsseldorf-Boston, and Berlin-San Francisco will lose services four weeks earlier than originally planned, now from October 1st onward.

It is unlikely that the planned schedule for other routes will survive into the winter season.
